What Are Viridiplantae?

Viridiplantae are green plants. They get their green color from tiny parts in their cells called chloroplasts. These chloroplasts help the plants make their own food using sunlight in a process called photosynthesis. This is very important because plants give food and oxygen to many animals, both on land and in water.

Where Do They Live?

Viridiplantae include green algae that live in water and plants that grow on land. Green algae are often very small, while land plants can be big trees or flowers. All of these plants have something called cellulose in their cell walls, which helps them stay strong.

How Scientists Study Them

Scientists have studied green plants for many years. They look at how these plants are related to each other. In 2019, they studied the genes of many plants to learn more about their families. This helps us understand how green algae and land plants are connected.
