Woodland

A woodland is a special place where trees and shrubs grow. The trees in a woodland are not as close together as in a thick forest. This lets lots of sunlight shine through, making it bright and cheerful.

Woodlands are found all around the world. In places like North Lanarkshire, Scotland, you can see open woodlands with space for plants to grow underneath the trees. In Northwest Indiana, people have worked hard to protect woodlands. Now, they are part of the beautiful Indiana Dunes.

Woodlands are home to many plants and animals. In North America, oak trees are common in woodlands. These places are important for many living things. People love woodlands because they are peaceful and full of nature.

Woodlands can look different depending on where they are. In some places, they have tall trees with bushes and grasses below. In other places, they might have fewer trees and more open space. No matter where they are, woodlands are special places for plants, animals, and people to enjoy.
