Adapted from Wikipedia · Adventurer experience
The 2025 NBA All-Star Championship was a special basketball game held on February 16, 2025. It was part of the National Basketball Association's 2024–25 season and the 74th time the NBA had an All-Star Game. The game was at Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors. This was the fourth time the Warriors hosted and the first time the NBA All-Star Game was in San Francisco.
The tournament was different from past games. It used a four-team single-elimination format with two semi-final games and a championship match. The teams were chosen by NBA on TNT analysts Shaquille O'Neal, Kenny Smith, and Charles Barkley, with Candace Parker helping the winning team. Shaq's OGs team won.
Stephen Curry was named the All-Star Most Valuable Player for his great play. The game was shown on TNT for the 23rd and last time before the broadcast moved to NBC.
Background
The Chase Center in San Francisco was chosen to host the All-Star Game on November 6, 2023. The Golden State Warriors made the announcement at a press conference. Many important people were there, including the NBA commissioner Adam Silver, Warriors leaders, and the mayor of San Francisco, London Breed.
Format change
On December 17, 2024, the NBA announced a new way to play the All-Star Game. It will now be a four-team tournament with a championship, like the Rising Stars Challenge format used since 2022. Each team will have 8 players.
The first three teams will be made up of all-star players chosen by NBA on TNT analysts Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kenny Smith. They will act as honorary general managers for Team Chuck, Team Shaq, and Team Kenny.
The fourth team will be the winner of the Rising Stars Challenge, led by honorary general manager Candace Parker, known as Team Candace.
The coaches for each team will come from the teams with the best records in each conference up to February 2, 2025. The first team to score 40 points will win each game.
