Martin Dulig

Martin Dulig (born 26 February 1974) is a German politician for the Social Democratic Party (SPD). He has had important jobs in the government of Saxony for many years.
Until 20 December 2019, he was the Saxon State Minister of Labor and Traffic and also Deputy Minister President of Saxony. He worked in the governments led by Stanislaw Tillich III and Michael Kretschmer.
On 20 December 2019, Michael Kretschmer made a new cabinet. Martin Dulig kept helping the people of Saxony but in a new job. Since 13 November 2014, he has been the State Minister for Economy. He was also named Second Deputy Minister of Saxony, helping guide the state through many important decisions.
Life and politics
Martin Dulig was born in 1974 in Plauen. He joined the SPD in 1992.
Since the 2004 state elections, Dulig has been a member of the Landtag of the Free State of Saxony, the legislative body of Saxony. He became chairman of the SPD in Saxony in 2014.
Dulig helped in talks to form a Grand Coalition of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats (CDU together with the Bavarian CSU) and the SPD after the 2013 federal elections. He worked on issues about families, women, and equality.
He also helped lead the SPD's big meetings in Leipzig in 2013 and in Berlin in 2014 and 2019.
Later, Dulig was part of the SPD team in talks to form a traffic light coalition of the SPD, the Green Party, and the Free Democrats after the 2021 German elections. He worked on social policy.
Other activities
Martin Dulig has been part of many important groups and organizations. He joined the Advisory Board for the Federal Network Agency for Electricity, Gas, Telecommunications, Post and Railway in 2014. He has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board for the Leipzig Trade Fair since 2017.
He is on the Supervisory Board for Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG and is Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board for the Development Bank of Saxony. Both roles started in 2014. He also joined the Political Advisory Board for the Business Forum of the Social Democratic Party of Germany in 2020 and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen.
