The Manhattan Fencing Center in Manhattan, New York City, was founded in 2007 by Olympic coach Yury Gelman. It is a place where people can learn the sport of fencing, which involves using swords to compete in a safe and fair way. Many young athletes have trained there, learning important skills and discipline. The center has helped develop many skilled fencers who have gone on to compete at high levels, including in the Olympics. It remains an important part of the fencing community in the United States.

Notable fencers

Some talented fencers have trained at the Manhattan Fencing Center. Monica Aksamit, born in 1990, won a bronze medal in the Women's Saber Team competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Daryl Homer, also born in 1990, competed in the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics, winning a silver medal in individual saber at the 2016 Olympics. Timothy Morehouse, born in 1978, won a silver medal with the United States fencing team at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Dagmara Wozniak, born in 1988, competed in the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal in 2016.
