Siete Foods
Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience
Garza Food Ventures LLC, doing business as Siete Foods, is an American company started in 2014 by Veronica Garza. The company makes special, nontraditional versions of traditional Mexican and Mexican-American foods. These foods are made without grains or dairy, which makes them different from the usual recipes people are used to.
According to Inc., Siete Foods helped create a new category of food that is both grain-free and dairy-free, using Mexican American staples. This means they offer tasty alternatives for people who want to enjoy these flavors without using grains or dairy products. Their work has brought new options to many people who are looking for different kinds of food.
History
The company was started in Austin, Texas in 2014 by Veronica Garza. Veronica was diagnosed with health issues during her school years. Her brother Roberto suggested she try avoiding grains, legumes, and dairy to see if it would help her. She found that it did, and her whole family joined her in making these changes. However, these ingredients are common in Mexican, Mexican-American, and Tex-Mex foods, especially tortillas, which are a big part of these meals.
Veronica began making recipes for traditional foods like tortillas using different ingredients, such as almond flour. She started selling them from her home and soon was making 50 dozen tortillas each weekend with her family's help. In 2014, a local food store called Austin's Wheatsville Food Co-op began selling her products. By 2016, bigger stores like Whole Foods carried her items too. In Canada, the online store Natura Market also sells Siete products. According to Inc., the company helped create a new group of grain-free and dairy-free Mexican American foods.
The company’s name, Siete, means “seven” in Spanish, representing Veronica, her parents, and her four siblings, all of whom work for the company. By 2022, the company was expected to sell US$250 million worth of products and was growing faster than any other Latino/Hispanic food brand in the United States. In 2024, PepsiCo announced it would buy the company, and the purchase was completed in January 2025.
Products
As of 2022, Siete Foods offered many tasty items such as tortillas, refried beans, tortilla chips, hard taco shells, cookies, seasoning mixes, and hot sauces. They had 60 different products available. That same year, they made their first corn product—a special tortilla chip made with the help of Nixta, a company that focuses on traditional ways to prepare maize using nixtamalization methods.
The company also published a cookbook in 2022 called The Siete Table: Nourishing Mexican-American Recipes From Our Kitchen.
Juntos fund
Siete Foods runs a special program called the Juntos fund. This fund gives money to small businesses owned by Latino and Hispanic families who make food. It helps them grow and share their delicious recipes with more people.
