Welcome to Amman!

Amman is the capital city of Jordan. It is a busy place with lots of people—about five million! That makes it one of the biggest cities in the Arab world. Amman is special because people have lived there for a very long time, making it one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world.

A City of History and Future

Amman has both old and new parts. You can find ancient ruins and modern buildings side by side. The city is a center for business, government, and culture. It has many buses to help people get around, including a special Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. This makes traveling easy and fast.

Fun Places to Visit

Amman has many interesting spots to explore. One popular area is Downtown Amman, called Al-Balad. It has old charm and beautiful buildings. Jabal Amman is another favorite place with markets, museums, and old buildings. You can also visit Rainbow Street, which is full of colorful shops and cafes.

The city’s food is delicious! You can try local dishes like shawarma and falafel, as well as foods from other countries. Amman has many shopping places, like big shopping malls, such as the Mecca Mall and City Mall. Wakalat Street is great for buying clothes, and Sweifieh is a main shopping area.

Getting Around

Amman has many ways to travel. The main airport is Queen Alia International Airport, which is about 30 km from the city. Inside the city, buses and taxis are easy to find. The Amman Bus Rapid Transit has special bus routes to help people move quickly. Riders can use a phone app or special cards to buy tickets. The buses have air-conditioning and even free internet!

Amman is a wonderful place to discover, with its mix of history, culture, and modern life. Whether you’re exploring old streets or enjoying tasty food, there’s always something fun to do in Amman!
