Who is Doctor Strange?

Dr. Stephen Strange is a very smart doctor who lives in New York City. He first appeared in comic books in 1963, created by artist Steve Ditko and writer Stan Lee. People know him as the Sorcerer Supreme because he protects the world from magical dangers.

Doctor Strange started as a talented neurosurgeon in Philadelphia. One day, he had a car accident that hurt his hands. This made it hard for him to work as a surgeon. He traveled the world looking for ways to heal his hands. He met a wise teacher called the Ancient One in the Himalayas. The Ancient One taught him magic and special skills.

Doctor Strange lives in a special house called the Sanctum Sanctorum in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. He works there with his friend Wong. They keep the world safe from magical problems.
