Welcome to Georgia!

Georgia is a beautiful country where Eastern Europe meets West Asia. It lies beside the Black Sea and is bordered by Russia, Turkey, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. The capital city, Tbilisi, is home to more than a third of the country's people.

A Land of Ancient Traditions

People have lived in Georgia for a very long time, with signs of life dating back over a million years! Georgians speak a special language called Georgian, which is unique and unlike any other in the world. One of the most famous things about Georgia is its very old winemaking tradition—one of the oldest known in the whole world!

Rich History and Culture

Georgia has an amazing history. Long ago, kingdoms like Colchis and Iberia grew here. In the fourth century, Georgia became one of the first countries to adopt Christianity, which helped bring the people together. During a time called the High Middle Ages, Georgia had a Golden Age led by great rulers like King David IV and Queen Tamar. They built wonderful buildings and created beautiful stories and poems.

Modern Georgia

Today, Georgia is a country that is growing and changing. After a time when it was part of a larger group of countries, Georgia became independent in 1991. Now, it works hard to become stronger and more connected with its neighbors and the rest of the world. Georgia is known for its friendly people, delicious food—like cheese, bread, and wine—and stunning landscapes full of mountains, forests, and sea coasts.

Georgia continues to develop, focusing on making life better for its people and welcoming visitors from around the world to enjoy its rich culture and natural beauty.
