Welcome to Turkey!

Turkey is a big and beautiful country that sits between West Asia and Southeast Europe. Most of it is in a place called Anatolia, and a smaller part called East Thrace is in Europe. Turkey has many neighbors, like Greece, Bulgaria, and Iran. Over 86 million people live there!

The capital city is Ankara, but the biggest city is Istanbul. Istanbul is very important because it has many people and businesses. Other nice cities are İzmir, Bursa, and Antalya. Long ago, Turkey was home to many ancient empires like the Hittites, Romans, and Ottomans. Today, Turkey is a modern country with a strong economy.

Amazing Places and Nature

Turkey has seven different regions, each with its own special look. You can find tall mountains like the Taurus Mountains, big lakes, and beautiful seas such as the Aegean Sea, Black Sea, and Mediterranean Sea. The country has many plants and animals, including over 10,000 different types of plants! One special flower is the tulip, which is a national symbol of Turkey.

Fun Culture and Food

Turkey’s culture is rich and colorful. People love music, dance, and storytelling. Traditional Turkish dances are still performed today. Turkish food is very tasty and includes dishes like kebabs, bread, yogurt, and sweet treats such as baklava and Turkish delight. One famous drink is Turkish coffee, which is enjoyed all around the world.

Football (soccer) is the most popular sport in Turkey. Many children play football, and the country has great teams and players. There are also traditional sports like yağlı güreş (oil wrestling) that people still love to watch.

Turkey has many wonderful places to visit, from busy cities to quiet beaches. It is a country full of history, nature, and delicious food!
