What Does "Hispanic" Mean?

The word Hispanic means a person, culture, or country linked to Spain, the Spanish language, or Hispanidad. Some people use this word to talk about groups who share a common background, like in the United States.

Where Do Hispanic People Live?

Hispanic people often live in places that were once part of the old Spanish Empire. This includes areas in Hispanic America and Hispanic Africa. One country in Africa is Equatorial Guinea, and another is Western Sahara. These places have mixed their own traditions with Spanish ways.

Culture and Language

Hispanic culture is full of colorful traditions, music, art, and tasty food! The Spanish language connects many Hispanic people, but each country has its own special customs, too. For example, Flamenco music comes from Spain, while Mexican music mixes many sounds.
