The Korean Language

The Korean language is spoken by millions of people in South Korea and North Korea. It is also used by Korean communities around the world, like in China, the United States, and Russia.

Korean has a special alphabet called Hangul. It was created over 500 years ago by a wise king named Sejong the Great. Hangul is easy to learn because each letter stands for one sound.

People in South Korea call their language hangugeo, while people in North Korea call it chosŏnŏ. Even though the names are different, both groups can understand each other very well.

Korean is special because it shows respect in many ways. When talking to older people or teachers, Koreans use different words and ways of speaking to be polite. This shows how important kindness and respect are in Korean culture.

Many people around the world are learning Korean today. One reason is because of fun and popular Korean music, movies, and TV shows. Learning Korean can open up new friends and experiences!
