Welcome to Sierra Leone!

Sierra Leone is a beautiful country in West Africa. It is bordered by Guinea to the north, Liberia to the southeast, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. The capital city is Freetown, which is a lively place with sandy beaches and historic sites.

Nature and Climate

Sierra Leone has a warm, tropical climate with a rainy season and a dry season. The land changes from green rainforests near the coast to wide, open savannas farther inland. Tall mountains, like Mount Bintumani, offer great views, and the coastline is perfect for fishing and relaxing.

People and Culture

The country is home to many different groups of people. The largest are the Temne and Mende. English is the official language, but most people also speak Krio, a special mix of English and local languages. Many people enjoy listening to the radio and playing football, which is the most popular sport. Children love to play football in neighborhoods and schools across the country.
