59th Street in Manhattan

59th Street is a busy road in New York City. It runs across part of Manhattan. On the east side, it starts near York Avenue. On the west side, it ends at the West Side Highway.

Some parts of 59th Street are called Central Park South. This is because they are the southern edge of Central Park. Between Columbus Circle and Grand Army Plaza, the road has special signs for both names.

The street separates Midtown Manhattan and Upper Manhattan. North of 59th Street, you can find the Upper West Side and Upper East Side. The names of the avenues also change. For example, Eighth Avenue becomes Central Park West.

Many famous buildings and shops are along 59th Street. You can visit Bloomingdale's, a big department store. There are also cool hotels like the Plaza Hotel and the Park Lane Hotel.

The street has several subway stops, making it easy to explore. One of these is 59th Street–Columbus Circle. If you take the Roosevelt Island Tramway, you can ride near Second Avenue to go to Roosevelt Island.
